The Official Joyitudes Guide to Organic Happiness

Here at the Joyitudes Blog we are laser focused on happiness. Medicinally, recreationally and scientifically focused. In fact, you are free to consider this entire space a happy medium. Everything you see here will be designed to help you restore happiness, retain happiness and remain in your happiest state of mind.

And whether you are new to cannabis due to legalization in Michigan or simply need a refresher course, there are some things you should know before the inhaling, ingesting and legal smiling begin.

Cannabis, or what we call Cannabliss, is really all about cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are chemicals that work with systems in your body to treat illness, as well as decrease things like nausea and pain while they simultaneously increase productivity and joy.

The two cannabinoids to remember are THC and CBD. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the undisputed world champion and the true king of cannabinoids. Its psychoactive properties deliver the euphoric effects that you feel when smoking, vaping or using other cannabis products. THC has been known to cause laughter and increased focus

CBD (cannabidiol) is the chilled-out, labcoat-wearing, non-psychoactive cannabinoid. CBD doesn’t produce the high associated with using THC. Therapeutic, anti-inflammatory and other medicinal benefits are CBD’s claim to fame. A useful, fun fact: CBD counteracts the effects of THC, so if you ever have too much THC, CBD can help you feel better sooner.

THC, CBD, other cannabinoids and terpenes assemble together much like a team of organic, natural superheroes to deliver the full spectrum of cannabis benefits to people of all walks of life. Happiness and wellness for all is what Joyology is really all about.

Different strains for different pains.

Let’s talk THC. One cannabis strain alone would likely still be enjoyable, but fortunately that is no longer a problem. These days, we cultivate a wide variety of strains designed to deliver different effects based on your individual needs. Different cannabis types can be placed into one of three categories: indica, sativa or a hybrid of the two.

Indica strains are more sedative and are ideal for treating pain, stress and insomnia. Indica varieties also help with relaxation, meditation and binge-streaming shows on rain-soaked weekends and during global pandemics. Many people opt for indica later in the day to help with sleep. Some strong indica strains can make you temporarily feel permanently attached to your sofa while Bob Marley’s dance in your head.

Sativa varieties are uplifting, euphoric and associated with creativity and thought. They can make you feel energized, and that’s why most people choose sativa in the morning and during the earlier half of the day. For a big job that doesn’t require power tools or before getting on the first chair lift, sativa can bring new levels of enjoyment and perspective to the occasion.

And then, there are hybrids. As you can imagine, hybrids reside in the middle ground between sativa and indica strains. A true cross between indica and sativa is bred to provide the best of both worlds. Expect to feel less pain, but with some euphoria and good vibes throw in.

Sativa dominant hybrids will give you more focus and drive, whereas indica dominant hybrids serve up more rest and relaxation. With so many good but varied choices the best option is to discuss it with a member of Team Joyology to find the strain for you.

Do cannabis and good barbecue have anything in common?

Both involve smoking, and in both cases the rule of thumb is to take it low and slow. Nothing good comes quickly. If you are just starting out with cannabis, it’s best to take a low dose and wait to see how you feel. Dosing is dependent on everyone’s individual body and their desired effect.

Whether you are smoking flower, vaping, ingesting edibles or placing drops under your tongue, each method is absorbed into the blood differently. Start with a low dose and wait to see how you feel. If you’re smoking you should have a good idea of what to expect within 10 or 15 minutes. With edibles it can take an hour or even two to feel the full effect. Microdosing means after waiting it out for those timeframes, you can add start to add on if you haven’t reached your desired feeling. This is the best way to ensure maximum joy.
